Patterson Lake South (PLS) Project

Located in Canada’s Athabasca Basin in Saskatchewan, Canada – a premier uranium province.

Our PLS project hosts the Triple R deposit – one of the region’s largest high-grade, near-surface uranium deposit. PLS is an advanced, development stage project – with a low-risk mine plan featuring a proposed high-grade uranium mine and mill. It is one of the few projects globally advanced enough to enter production this cycle.

The 2023 PLS Feasibility Study [1] highlighted the potential for a 10-year mine life with annual production of 9.1Mlbs p.a. U308.  As part of its integration process, Paladin intends to conduct a full review of the PLS feasibility study (including Fission’s previously estimated capital and operating costs), with the aim of identifying areas for further optimisation and de-risking the development of the project.

Environment

Paladin’s approach to environmental management is set out here, with further detail in our Sustainability Report.

Local knowledge experts are already involved with ongoing environmental monitoring at the PLS project. We also employ local contractors and individuals in a variety of roles, as well as provide direct funding for locally run educational and social initiatives.

Community

The project has long standing ties with the local communities and maintains a proactive stance regarding responsible development, including community support, as well as engagement of rights holders and stakeholders. This includes First Nations and Metis, Tribal councils, local communities, municipalities, governments, and regulatory agencies.

We are committed to working with communities and supporting local northern business in the region to maximize the training, employment, and economic opportunities for the local people. In doing so, we will continue to build mutually respectful, beneficial, and long-lasting economic relationships with stakeholders/rights holders in the region.

Already, local businesses and individual members of the local community provide a range of services to the PLS project, including camp management, catering, logistics, security, vehicle and equipment rental, technicians, and others.
