The blind hostel houses 26 blind children during term time where they receive specialised teaching and care. Prior to this support, the children were only visited every few weeks by a teacher on a bicycle.
FEPAC provides the monthly costs of running the hostel and to date has renovated their classrooms, built an extension to the dormitory along with 12 new toilets and an additional teacher's house. Furniture was also purchased from the carpentry students at the Mkakatavu vocational training school.
A borehole was also drilled next to the hostel making it easier for the children to access safe water for drinking, cooking, washing and bathing.
Six braille machines and accessories were purchased to assist the children with their schooling. As well as a cooker and fridge/freezer for the kitchen.
